David Webb: Ready to Take the Reins in Management After Georgia Stint

David Webb shared his initial thoughts on joining Georgia's staff in 2023 with Sky Sports, saying, "I thought it could be exciting." This opportunity turned out to be a life-changing experience, taking him all the way to Euro 2024. "It turned out to be amazing," Webb reflected. His involvement in Georgia's first major international tournament has become a part of the nation's football history. However, his time with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has come to an end, and he believes he is now ready to pursue his ambition to become a head coach. Webb's journey in football has been unique, driven by what he describes as "a calling rather than a career." He never earned a professional contract as a player and instead worked normal jobs until he had an epiphany at 21 that coaching was his route into the game. Webb worked his way up as an academy coach at Wimbledon and then Crystal Palace, later taking on roles at Millwall, Southampton, Bournemouth, Tottenham, and Ostersunds in Sweden. He also pursued a master's degree in sports psychology to add another layer to his learning, understanding the importance of creating relationships with players and knowing them beyond their playing attributes. Webb's experience with Georgia, where he worked under Willy Sagnol, was invaluable, and he credits Sagnol for giving him the opportunity to work with world-class players. He is now looking for his next challenge, having had conversations with national federations and clubs in England and Europe about head coaching roles. Webb's goal is to work with ambitious and successful people, and he believes his ability to make players better and fit them into the jigsaw puzzle of a team will be key to his success.
