Fakhar Zaman Rejects Ball-Tampering Allegations Following PSL Penalty

Pakistan Super League player Fakhar Zaman has refuted allegations of ball-tampering after his team, Lahore Qalandars, was penalized five runs during a match against Karachi Kings. The incident occurred when the umpires deemed Fakhar guilty of unfairly altering the condition of the ball, which could result in a one or two-match suspension if proven. The alleged tampering happened before the final over, with Karachi needing 14 runs to surpass Lahore's total of 128-9. The ball was subsequently replaced, and Karachi's target was reduced to nine runs from six deliveries. Despite a strong start from Qalandars seamer Haris Rauf, Karachi emerged victorious in 19.3 overs. A hearing will be conducted by match referee Roshan Mahanama in the coming days to investigate the matter further. According to Cricket's Law 41.3.2, any player who intentionally changes the condition of the ball commits an offense. Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Shah Afridi expressed his dissatisfaction with the ball change during the post-match presentation, stating that they would await the umpires' decision.
