Wakefield Leapfrogs to Third in Super League Following Away Victory at York
Wakefield's Tom Johnstone scored two second-half tries, leading his team to a 26-14 win over York at the LNER Community Stadium. Following a strong start by York, with Sam Wood scoring in the 15th minute, the first half saw a series of tries, including scores from Ben Jones-Bishop and Caleb Hamlin-Uele. Wakefield took a 12-10 lead into halftime, courtesy of Max Jowitt's conversions. The second half belonged to Wakefield, with Johnstone crossing twice in 17 minutes, and Nikau Williams and Oliver Pratt also scoring. This victory propels Wakefield to third in the Super League table, while York sits near the bottom with only two wins in six outings. The win comes as Wakefield announces the signing of NRL star Roger Tuivasa-Sheck for a two-year deal starting next season.
