Five Potential Candidates to Lead England Netball Team into the Next World Cup

Following the surprise resignation of Jess Thirlby, England's Vitality Roses are navigating uncharted territory as they approach the most critical two-year period in their cycle. Anna Stembridge has taken the reins as interim head coach and will lead the team into the Commonwealth Games this summer. However, the search for a permanent head coach will commence immediately after the Games, with the new appointee having just one year to prepare the team for the 2027 Netball World Cup in Australia. Thirlby's seven-year tenure has left a significant void, and her permanent successor will have a daunting task ahead. Tracey Neville, a fan favorite, has ruled herself out of contention after her successful stint with England. Sara Francis-Bayman, an England international with 84 caps, is another potential candidate. She is currently based in Australia, working as the General Manager at West Coast Fever, and has experience as a coach, having led Loughborough Lightning to their maiden NSL title. Francis-Bayman's insight into the Australian league and her experience working with England captain Fran Williams and Sasha Glasgow could aid a smooth transition if she were to take the role.
