Tiger Woods Provides Update on His Masters Ambitions Following TGL Return

Tiger Woods is determined to make his major comeback at The Masters and is working towards being fit enough to participate at Augusta National next month, which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports. Woods has only competed in four 72-hole tournaments over the past five years and has been limited to just 11 official events due to multiple injuries since his near-fatal car accident in 2021. The 50-year-old has not appeared on the PGA Tour since missing the cut at The Open in July 2024, following back surgery, an Achilles injury, and disk replacement surgery in October. Woods recently played for Jupiter Links GC in the TGL season finale, where they lost 9-2 to Los Angeles GC, and although he is uncertain about his participation in the opening major of the year, he expressed his desire to play. "My body doesn't recover as quickly as it did when I was 24 or 25, but that doesn't mean I'm not trying. I've been trying for a while, despite having to overcome some significant injuries over the past few years," Woods admitted. He added that he will continue to practice and play at home to make progress. Woods filled in for Kevin Kisner in the Jupiter Links lineup, joining Max Homa and Tom Kim, and hit two drives over 300 yards, including a 318-yard shot. However, he only played nine shots throughout the match, which included a missed putt from inside four feet. Woods described his physical condition as "fine" but acknowledged that the TGL format was challenging for him, as he had to adapt to a different rhythm. Despite the defeat, Woods enjoyed being part of the event and praised the skill of the other players. As a past champion, Woods is listed in the field for The Masters and has no deadline to commit to playing, giving him more time to decide if he is physically ready to return. He has a record of 24 consecutive cuts at the event and has won the tournament five times, with his most recent victory being in 2019.
