Travis Kelce Commits to Three More Years with Kansas City Chiefs

Travis Kelce has formally inked a contract extension with the Kansas City Chiefs, worth $54.7m over three years. This development comes after Kelce recently affirmed his decision to stay with the team, putting retirement rumors to rest. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the deal could potentially be worth up to $57.735m. Kelce expressed his excitement on Instagram, stating, "Chiefs Kingdom, let's go baby! It's official, excited for 2026 and just excited to put on the Chiefs uniform in front of you guys again. Let's get Arrowhead rockin' baby, we'll see you in a few months!" The contract's duration provides Kelce with flexibility regarding his future, especially as the team awaits Patrick Mahomes' return from a serious knee injury. If Mahomes' recovery extends into the early weeks of the 2026 season, Kelce may still have the opportunity to play a full campaign alongside his star quarterback. With three Super Bowl rings under his belt, Kelce has been a pivotal figure in the Chiefs' dynasty, forming a prolific tandem with Mahomes. The 36-year-old tight end has broken multiple NFL records, including those for postseason receptions, Super Bowl receptions, and postseason touchdown catches by a tight end. Despite the Chiefs' disappointing 6-11 finish in 2025, Kelce achieved the milestone of becoming the third tight end in NFL history to reach 13,000 receiving yards, accomplishing this feat in a record 192 games. The Chiefs have strengthened their offense by acquiring Super Bowl MVP running back Kenneth Walker III and quarterback Justin Fields, as Mahomes continues his recovery.
