Jim Crowley’s Recovery Faces Temporary Setback but Eyes Summer Comeback

Renowned jockey Jim Crowley is facing a brief delay in his return to racing following a broken leg and pelvis, but remains optimistic about resuming his career by summer, in time for the prestigious Royal Ascot event. Crowley suffered the injury in a severe fall at York last September while riding Almeraq in the Garrowby Stakes, with fellow jockey Trevor Whelan also being brought down and recently experiencing a significant delay in his own recovery due to the need for additional surgery. Crowley, known for his numerous Group 1 victories while representing Shadwell, has been dealing with a tendon issue in his leg this month. In a recent interview with Sky Sports Racing, Crowley stated, "My full recovery is assured, but the healing process wasn't progressing as smoothly as I had hoped, and I encountered a tendon problem in my leg that required attention, which I addressed on the Wednesday of Cheltenham. I'm currently undergoing rehabilitation on crutches and can bear weight on my leg. Although this has likely pushed back my return by about a month, it was an unavoidable setback. I don't have a specific return date in mind, but I'm doing everything possible to get back to racing as soon as I can. My goal is to be back in action by the end of May, but I'm uncertain if that will be achievable."
