Kim Holds Off Korda to Claim Fortinet Founders Cup Title

Hyo-Joo Kim fended off a strong challenge from Nelly Korda to secure her eighth LPGA Tour victory, winning the Fortinet Founders Cup by a single stroke in California. Kim, from South Korea, had started the final round with a five-shot lead over Korda, but the American narrowed the gap to zero after 10 holes, thanks to six birdies following an early bogey. However, Korda's momentum was halted with six consecutive pars and two bogeys, including a crucial dropped shot at the 17th hole after a three-putt. Kim, despite bogeying two of her last three holes, managed to cling on for a wire-to-wire win, finishing with a score of 16 under. The 30-year-old reflected on her triumph, saying, "Every day was enjoyable, but this course was quite tough." Kim's previous LPGA Tour title came a year ago at the Ford Championship, an event that is next on the 2026 calendar and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Golf. Korda, seeking her second LPGA Tour win of the year, had previously triumphed at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in Florida. She expressed her disappointment, stating, "The 17th hole still hurts, but that's just golf. I'll focus on the positives and look forward to the next event." The LPGA Tour 2026 schedule is now available, with the first women's golf major of the year, The Chevron Championship, set to take place in Texas from April 23. Hannah Green, the current form player, has won three times in March and will be a contender in the upcoming major season.
