O'Brien Hails Albert Einstein as Top Guineas Prospect

Trainer Aidan O'Brien remains highly enthusiastic about Albert Einstein's potential as the promising colt begins his three-year-old campaign. Despite being sidelined by an injury after just two unbeaten starts as a juvenile, O'Brien believes Albert Einstein stands out from his other Group-winning two-year-olds from last season. The only uncertainty surrounding the colt is his ability to stay the distance. O'Brien expressed caution when discussing the colt's training on bad ground, stating, "It's been wet, so we've had to be mindful not to overexert them." He added, "All the key horses have progressed well, and from the Guineas contenders, Albert is currently our number one. He's developed physically, is big and powerful, and exhibits rapid speed." However, O'Brien is unsure whether Albert Einstein will be able to maintain his speed over a mile, saying, "We won't know until we try it. Everyone, including the stride and pedigree experts, thinks he'll stay the distance, but he's incredibly quick-witted and fast-paced." The trainer plans to take a cautious approach, saying, "We're going to train him without pushing him too hard and see how things unfold." Albert Einstein is one of three horses O'Brien has earmarked for the 2000 Guineas in England, Ireland, and France, alongside Puerto Rico and Gstaad. O'Brien noted, "At the moment, all three are being trained for the Guineas, and I imagine one will go to France before returning to the Curragh." He also mentioned that the current ground conditions might influence their decisions, saying, "I think two will go to Newmarket and one to France, then the Curragh." O'Brien emphasized Albert Einstein's exceptional talent, recalling, "When we started working with him in the spring of his two-year-old season, we thought he was the only decent horse we had. He was significantly better than the others, which was unusual." The trainer highlighted the colt's impressive performance in his maiden win, saying, "He won easily, and the second-place finisher, Power Blue, went on to win a Group One. Then, he suffered a setback, but he's compact, powerful, and strong."
