'Enough is Enough': Ferrari Draws Line on Further Changes to F1 Start Rules

Ferrari Team Principal Frederic Vasseur believes that the time has come to stop making changes to the Formula 1 start procedure, emphasizing that 'enough is enough.' The team's exceptional starts have been a notable feature of the first two weekends of the new rules era, with Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton both taking the lead from the second row of the grid. However, the introduction of a five-second 'pre-start' procedure has not simplified the process, and Vasseur feels that Ferrari have already compromised enough in this area. Speaking after the recent race, Vasseur stated that the team had designed their car to fit the regulations and that further changes to the start rules would be unnecessary. The Ferrari team principal also played down the impact of the upcoming change in testing rules, which will require engines to be tested in both hot and cold conditions from June 1. Instead, Vasseur suggested that Ferrari may benefit from the new rule regarding in-season upgrades to power units, which will provide opportunities for development based on performance. The team is currently focusing on closing the gap with Mercedes, who have taken a strong lead in the championship. Vasseur acknowledged that Ferrari have a deficit in straight-line performance but emphasized that the team needs to work on all aspects of the car, including the chassis and tire management, to improve their overall performance.
