Littler Stages Stunning Comeback to Edge Out Price in Dublin Thriller

World number one Luke Littler staged an incredible comeback from the brink of defeat, winning six consecutive legs to narrowly defeat Gerwyn Price in a nail-biting final leg and claim victory at Premier League Darts Night Seven in Dublin. Littler solidified his position behind league leader Jonny Clayton after overcoming Stephen Bunting and then outlasting Michael van Gerwen in a thrilling semi-final, before recovering from 5-0 down to defeat Price. The reigning back-to-back world champion withstood eight match darts in total to secure victory in the Irish capital - three from Van Gerwen and five from Price, including a shot at the usually reliable tops when leading 5-1, as Littler seemed to accept his fate. Littler told Sky Sports, 'I have no idea how I managed to pull that off. I won the first leg, had some fun, and then hit my 180, but Gezzy had set up tops, so I waved goodbye to the crowd.' He added, 'When Gerwyn Price was on tops, he rarely misses. I thought I was done for, I might as well have been off the stage. This is darts, and anything can happen.' Littler had earlier survived three match darts to defeat Van Gerwen 6-5 in a remarkable semi-final showdown. 'Mighty Mike' hit a stunning 170 finish to take a 5-3 lead, but the 19-year-old reeled him in to draw level before winning a classic by pinning D5 when throwing first in the decider. Price averaged over 109 with five 180s and 6/9 on the doubles to complete a 6-1 demolition of Luke Humphries and deny 'Cool Hand' a chance to secure his first nightly win of 2026 as reigning champion. Despite suffering a first quarter-final defeat, Clayton retains his spot at the top of the league, three points ahead of Littler. The race for the play-offs remains wide open, with only five points separating third and seventh place. Littler had stormed into the semi-finals with his first-ever win in Dublin, sealing a commanding 6-3 victory over Bunting as he averaged 105 with four 180s and 60 per cent on the doubles. World Championship runner-up Gian van Veen withdrew earlier on Thursday due to a kidney stone diagnosis. The Dutch No 1 was due to face compatriot Van Gerwen, who received a bye to the semi-finals. Van Gerwen earned two league points and a plus one leg difference, while Van Veen's leg difference will be minus six as a result of his withdrawal. In the other quarter-finals, Price whitewashed a demoralized Josh Rock, averaging over 103.66 and hitting 47 per cent of his doubles in a routine win. Humphries averaged 103.44 to hand Clayton a first quarter-final defeat in the competition this season with a 6-3 victory and a 120 'Shanghai' finish. 'The Ferret' will remain top of the Premier League heading into Night Eight in Berlin, but only by three points, with Littler closing in. Night Eight of the BetMGM Premier League will take place in Berlin on Thursday, March 26, as Littler begins his bid for a third nightly victory of 2026 against Bunting at the Mercedes-Benz Arena. League leader Clayton will take on Rock in the evening's opener, Humphries and Van Gerwen also go head-to-head, while Price takes on Van Veen for a place in the semi-finals.
