Cobden Ruled Out of Cheltenham Due to Shoulder Injury

Jockey Harry Cobden will not participate in Cheltenham's upcoming meeting on Saturday, as he has not fully recovered from a shoulder injury sustained during a fall at Ascot last weekend. The incident occurred while Cobden was riding Neon Moon in a handicap chase, where he fell at the ninth fence and was subsequently struck by another horse. As a result, Cobden missed out on a significant opportunity to ride Jonbon, which was set to be his first major mount since being appointed as JP McManus' new retained rider starting in May. According to trainer Paul Nicholls, Cobden's absence from the meeting will include missing the ride on promising young horse Minella Yoga, who will instead be ridden by Sam Twiston-Davies. Nicholls stated, 'We will only have two runners at Cheltenham, with Sam riding Minella Yoga and Freddie Gingell riding Quebecois. Harry is still experiencing some discomfort in his shoulder, so he will take a few more days to recover from the fall.' Nicholls also mentioned that he plans to discuss the possibility of Twiston-Davies taking on Grade One rides for his yard next season once Cobden assumes his new role.
