Raducanu Eliminated from Australian Open in Second Round
Emma Raducanu's Australian Open campaign came to an end in the second round, as she suffered a 7-6 (7-3) 6-2 defeat to Anastasia Potapova. Raducanu, the British No 1, struggled to find her rhythm in windy conditions, committing 28 unforced errors throughout the match. Despite a promising start, Raducanu faded, allowing Potapova to capitalize and secure the win. The loss marks a disappointing start to the season for Raducanu, who had been hindered by a foot injury in the preseason. Potapova, who recently switched to representing Austria, demonstrated her skill and experience, outmaneuvering Raducanu in key moments. Meanwhile, world No 1 Aryna Sabalenka overcame a challenging opening set to defeat China's Bai Zhuoxuan 6-3 6-1, while third seed Coco Gauff beat Olga Danilovic 6-2 6-2 to advance to the third round. Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko also secured a spot in the next round, coming back from 3-0 down in the second set to defeat American Caty McNally 6-4 6-3.
