Uncertainty Surrounds Welsh Rugby as Tandy Unveils Six Nations Squad

Wales head coach Steve Tandy has announced his 38-man squad for the Six Nations Championship, amidst ongoing uncertainty surrounding the country's domestic rugby scene. The announcement comes as the Welsh Rugby Union considers cutting one of its four professional teams, with two consortiums having submitted final bids for the sale of Cardiff Rugby. The preferred bidder is understood to be Ospreys owners Y11 Sport & Media, which could lead to the two teams merging. The squad features 14 players from the Blues and Ospreys, with captain Jac Morgan absent due to a shoulder injury. Veteran No 8 Taulupe Faletau has also missed out due to a calf injury, while Ospreys hooker Dewi Lake has been named captain for the campaign. Uncapped players Gabriel Hamer-Webb and Louie Hennessey have been included, along with recalls for Eddie James, James Botham, and Josh Macleod. Tandy stated that the squad has a good balance and he is looking forward to the team assembling next week. The squad is as follows: Forwards: Keiron Assiratti, Adam Beard, Liam Belcher, James Botham, Rhys Carre, Ben Carter, Olly Cracknell, Harri Deaves, Ryan Elias, Tomas Francis, Archie Griffin, Dafydd Jenkins, Dewi Lake, Alex Mann, Josh Macleod, Taine Plumtree, Nicky Smith, Gareth Thomas, Freddie Thomas, Aaron Wainwright. Backs: Josh Adams, Sam Costelow, Dan Edwards, Jarrod Evans, Mason Grady, Kieran Hardy, Gabriel Hamer-Webb, Joe Hawkins, Louie Hennessey, Eddie James, Ellis Mee, Reuben Morgan-Williams, Blair Murray, Louis Rees-Zammit, Tom Rogers, Ben Thomas, Owen Watkin, Tomos Williams. Tandy has also added to his backroom team, with former Wales internationals Duncan Jones, Dan Lydiate, and Rhys Patchell joining as interim coaches for the Six Nations.
