Scotland Unveils World Cup Warm-Up Matches at Home

The Scottish national team is set to face Japan and Curacao in two friendly matches at home prior to the World Cup. The first game against Japan, the first team to qualify for the tournament, will take place on March 28 at 5 pm at Hampden Park. This match marks the team's return to the national stadium since their World Cup qualification was confirmed. Under the guidance of head coach Steve Clarke, Scotland will then play against Curacao, the smallest nation to qualify for the World Cup, on May 30 at 1 pm. This fixture will provide fans with a final opportunity to see the team before they depart for the USA. Scotland's World Cup campaign begins with a match against Haiti on June 14 in Boston, marking their return to the men's World Cup for the first time since 1998. They will then face Morocco on June 19 and conclude their Group C fixtures against five-time winners Brazil on June 24 in Miami. Coach Clarke expressed his delight at confirming the two home friendly matches, stating that the team's approach is to arrange challenging friendlies. He noted that securing a match against Japan, ranked in the top 20 of FIFA's World Rankings, was a significant achievement. Clarke also looks forward to welcoming Curacao to Glasgow, which will provide the team with experience against a CONCACAF federation team before their match against Haiti. The Scottish FA is expected to announce two additional away friendlies. This will be Japan's first visit to Hampden Park, although the two teams have played each other on three previous occasions.
