Parry Trails Leader by One Stroke at Sony Open in Hawaii

A late mistake cost England's John Parry the top spot, leaving him one stroke behind the leaders at the midpoint of the PGA Tour's Sony Open in Hawaii. Parry had briefly shared the lead after recovering from two dropped shots with consecutive birdies, but a further error on the 16th hole dropped him to eight-under-par. He trails a group of five golfers, including reigning champion Nick Taylor of Canada and Belgium's Adrien Dumont de Chassart. Taylor noted the challenging conditions, saying, "The strong wind and gusts made it difficult to gauge distances, and we had to time our shots carefully and also rely on a bit of luck." Parry's fellow Englishman, Harry Hall, is two strokes further back, while Scotland's Robert MacIntyre finished with two bogeys to sit at two-under-par, level with 62-year-old Vijay Singh, a former Masters and US PGA champion who made the cut on his return to the PGA Tour.
