Cadillac Unveils First F1 Car at Silverstone

The Cadillac F1 team conducted its inaugural track run with its new car at Silverstone, marking a historic milestone. Sergio Perez took the wheel, with teammate Valtteri Bottas and CEO Dan Towriss in attendance. The team shared a video of the car in action on social media, showcasing its maiden laps. Perez expressed his excitement, stating, "Today was an incredible day, and everyone should be proud of our first laps as a team. It was emotional to be part of motorsport history." The car, powered by Ferrari engines, is Cadillac's first F1 challenger. This shakedown comes ahead of the pre-season test in Barcelona from January 26-30. Cadillac is the second team to complete a shakedown, following Audi's run at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The team's driver lineup includes Perez and Bottas, both seasoned veterans returning to the grid after a year on the sidelines. Earlier in the week, the team revealed its special testing livery, featuring a largely bare carbon design with the Cadillac logo and the names of founding team members inscribed on the chassis. The final livery will be unveiled during the Super Bowl on February 8. As F1's 11th team and the first new entrant since Haas in 2016, Cadillac's debut marks a significant moment in the sport. Team principal Graeme Lowdon described the experience as "emotional" and praised the team's hard work. Despite some challenges during the shakedown, Lowdon expressed satisfaction with the progress made, highlighting the importance of gathering valuable data and starting the journey towards the first race in Melbourne.
