Conor Gallagher Makes £34m Move to Tottenham from Atletico Madrid

Tottenham has finalized the acquisition of England midfielder Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid in a £34m deal. Aston Villa had also expressed interest in Gallagher, proposing an initial loan arrangement with an option to buy, but Atletico Madrid preferred a guaranteed purchase obligation. Following Rodrigo Bentancur's season-ending hamstring injury, Spurs sought to bolster their midfield, and Gallagher has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract. Having signed for Atletico in 2024 for around £38m, the 25-year-old Gallagher brings substantial Premier League experience, with 136 appearances for West Brom, Crystal Palace, and Chelsea. The extent of Bentancur's injury was confirmed by Spurs, who announced that the midfielder will undergo rehabilitation with the club's medical staff. Meanwhile, no first-team squad member is currently allowed to leave the club, with Mathys Tel and Radu Dragusin remaining part of Frank's plans despite interest from other clubs. Spurs are also nearing a £13m deal for Santos left-back Souza to provide cover and competition for Destiny Udogie.
