New York Clinches Victory with Fowler's 14-Foot Birdie Putt
The New York Golf Club staged an impressive comeback from 3-1 down to claim a resounding 8-3 victory over the Jupiter Links Golf Club at the SoFi Center on Tuesday. Rickie Fowler played a pivotal role in securing the win with a crucial 14-foot birdie putt worth two points at the 13th hole, ending the team's three-match losing streak that dated back to the previous season. New York accumulated four points from the Hammer, refocusing their efforts prior to the last 11 holes, where they outscored Jupiter 7-0. Despite a strong challenge from Jupiter, who had Tiger Woods on board in a non-playing capacity, they were unable to hold on. This win marked New York's second match of the season, bringing their record to 1-1 after losing to the 2025 Champions, Atlanta Drive GC, on the opening day in December. For Jupiter, this was their inaugural match, following a fifth-place finish last season with only one win in 2025. The golfing world has also seen significant developments, including Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, and Cam Smith committing to LIV Golf after Brooks Koepka's return to the PGA Tour. Brooks Koepka is set to make his PGA Tour comeback this month under the new Returning Member Program after leaving LIV Golf. Looking ahead, Jupiter will face the regular season leaders from last year, the Los Angeles Golf Club, on January 20, while New York's next match is scheduled for February 24.
