Ex-ECB CEO David Collier Passes Away at 70

The cricket community is mourning the loss of David Collier, the former chief executive of the England and Wales Cricket Board, who has passed away at the age of 70. During his tenure from 2004 to 2014, Collier played a pivotal role in shaping the sport, with the England men's team securing four Ashes victories and the women's team achieving five. Notably, the women's team won both the ICC Women's World Cup and the ICC Women's T20 World Cup in 2009, while the men's team claimed the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in 2010. A highlight of his term was the historic double Ashes win in 2005. Collier was honored with an OBE in 2015 for his services to cricket. ECB Chief Executive Richard Gould expressed his condolences, praising Collier as a dedicated leader who contributed significantly to the game's growth, particularly in the women's and disability sectors. Gould acknowledged that Collier's legacy continues to have a lasting impact on the sport.
