A new novice contest worth £40,000 is set to take place on the Flat at Southwell on February 20, potentially serving as a prep run for Constitution Hill ahead of the Champion Hurdle. Following a series of setbacks, including three falls in four outings, the former champion has been in need of a confidence-boosting run. Trainer Nicky Henderson has expressed his desire to provide Constitution Hill with a suitable Flat run, and this new event may provide the ideal opportunity. The race, which will be part of the Friday Night Live series and sponsored by SBK bookmakers, meets the necessary criteria for Constitution Hill's participation.
