Livingston and Kilmarnock Share Spoils in 1-1 Draw

The bottom two teams in the William Hill Premiership, Livingston and Kilmarnock, played out a 1-1 draw at the Home of the Set Fare Arena, extending their winless runs. Livingston had not secured a victory in 19 top-flight fixtures, while Kilmarnock had gone 14 games without a win. Connor McLennan put Livingston in front just before half-time, but Marcus Dackers' 70th-minute equaliser earned Kilmarnock a draw in Neil McCann's first game as manager. The match got off to a rocky start for the hosts, with Brooklyn Kabongolo receiving an early booking and being replaced by Danny Wilson after just 10 minutes. Despite struggling to settle, Livingston created the first notable chance when Joshua Brenet found McLennan, whose effort was saved by Tobi Oluwayemi. The tempo of the game changed after this, with both sides creating opportunities. McLennan eventually broke the deadlock just before half-time, turning home Macaulay Tait's cross. Livingston came out energised in the second half, with Tete Yengi hitting the crossbar and Jerome Prior making crucial saves to deny Kilmarnock. However, substitute Dackers levelled the score on 70 minutes, prodding the ball over the line at the second attempt. Both teams pushed for a late winner, with Lewis Smith and Dom Thompson testing the opposition goalkeepers, but neither side could find a decisive goal. The hosts handed debuts to Scott Arfield and Alex Tamm, who both forced Oluwayemi into saves, but the game ended in a draw. Kilmarnock boss Neil McCann expressed his disappointment with the refereeing decisions, particularly the early booking and non-sending-off of Kabongolo. Livingston manager David Martindale defended his player, arguing that the first challenge did not warrant a yellow card and that the referee's decision-making had put his team in a difficult position.
