O'Neill: Kyogo Furuhashi's January Return to Celtic Looks Unlikely

According to Celtic's interim manager Martin O'Neill, the likelihood of striker Kyogo Furuhashi rejoining the club in January is low. The club had made an enquiry to Birmingham City about a potential loan deal. When questioned about the situation ahead of the match against Dundee United, O'Neill stated, "I think it's probably unlikely. It's understandable that he wants to establish himself at Birmingham. Recently, Sky Sports News reported that despite not scoring in 23 league appearances, Kyogo is considered a valuable asset to the Championship club's squad. The 30-year-old initially left Celtic in January for Rennes in a £10m deal, following advice from Japan's coach Hajime Moriyasu to join a top-five European league for World Cup consideration. However, after being sidelined at Rennes, he joined Birmingham last summer in a £10m deal. Celtic, now under O'Neill's interim management following Wilfried Nancy's dismissal, have already signed Julian Araujo on loan from Bournemouth until the end of the season. O'Neill emphasized that the club is actively working to strengthen the squad further this month, saying, "We're doing a lot of work on it, seriously. We're aware that we need to supplement the squad and there's a lot of work going on to hopefully bring in a few players. The club is committed to making significant improvements.
