Naseem Hamed Expresses Regret Over Fallen Out with Legendary Trainer Brendan Ingle

Former boxing champion Naseem Hamed has voiced his remorse over the deterioration of his relationship with renowned trainer Brendan Ingle. The newly released film 'Giant' chronicles the complex bond between Hamed and Ingle, who played a pivotal role in Hamed's career. Hamed became a professional boxer at 18 and went on to claim the European championship at 20, followed by the WBO featherweight world title in 1995. One of his most notable victories was against Kevin Kelly in 1997, where he recovered from being knocked down three times to secure a win. However, the relationship between Hamed and Ingle began to fray, ultimately leading to a split in 1998. Reflecting on the past, Hamed expressed his disappointment, stating, 'You can use the word regret.' He acknowledged that watching the film was challenging, but it has become easier over time. Hamed credited Ingle with teaching him the fundamentals of boxing and attributed his confidence and flamboyance to Ingle's guidance. Ingle, who passed away in 2018, was played by Pierce Brosnan in the film, and the actor felt privileged to portray the iconic trainer.
